Lesson from Life and Leadville.
Psalm 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Just the other night, I had the opportunity to do a 12-mile run through the forest with my headlamp. We started at 9 p.m., and I finished around 11:30 p.m. During this time, all we had to guide us was our headlamp and glow sticks. When you can only see a few feet ahead of you, and are totally dependent on the lamp, and all around you are the elements of God's creation, you are dealing with the altitude (starting out at 10,200 feet and going over 11,500 feet), also the rocks, tree roots, cliffs, and streams that you cross (not to mention wildlife), dependence on the lamp reminds you of how important God's Word is to your daily walk. If the lamp goes out, you are in a desperate situation. But with the light from that lamp, it carries you along. You can't see a long way ahead of you, but you can see just enough to get you through. That's the lesson that we get from the Light of God's Word. He doesn't always show us what's way ahead, but if we depend upon the Light of His Word, He takes us a few steps at a time, and we get through where we need to go for the day. Please feel free to post questions or comments about this subject.
